Questions & Answers

Q: What sets you apart from other photographers?
I think its incredibly important to connect with my clients. I make a point to get to know my couples before their wedding so that on their special day its like having a close friend right by your side. Getting to know each other before the wedding day reduces the stress and allows us to have fun, making it easier for me to capture their true essence.

Q: How did you get started in photography?
Oh gee, that's a long one. I guess it started when I was a kid. I loved everything about art. I loved everything from pottery, acting, drawing, painting and eventually photography. Before I even thought that I wanted to be a photographer I can always remember my memories in an image form. Some people remember touches, sounds, words, etc. But for me, it was photos. I could see snapshots of my life. I started taking photos when I found out that for the first time in my life I was going to be moving to a new town filled with new faces and who knew when the next time Id see my real friends and everything that I called home. I picked up as many disposable cameras as I could and photographed as often as humanly possible. About 8 years later I was living in Chicago. I made a friend that lived in France and he had some crazy Nikon DSLR, and let me tell you I envied it like crazy. I remember holding the camera (it was the first time I held a professional one) and it was AMAZING! I remember looking through the view finder and seeing so much that I would love to capture and share. It was then that I knew I would love to share my vision and be a photographer. Finally a few years later I got my first DSLR. It was great to have a fancy camera and all but my artistic expression was limited based on the fact I didn’t understand the science behind photography. I bought as many books as possible, and thanks to friends help I learned about aperture, ISO, shutter speed, etc. It was then I was able to combine my artistic vision with my newly acquired knowledge of the camera.

Q: Who and what influences and or motivates my photography?
For starters, my couples motivate me! I love getting to know them and documenting their unique love for one another. I know that sounds so cheesy, but its true! I absolutely LOVE photographing people who are full of life and live to try new things. I am striving to capture the person/couple in each shoot. I want my clients to see their pictures and feel like they and their personalities are oozing out of the image. I live for the real life moments the tears, the honesty, the smiles, the awkward moments! I love it all. I must mention the photographers delights that motivate me such as beautiful sunset light, big puffy clouds, and the sidewalk after a rain.
